Sunrise Wind — from orbit to insight

01 — The Project

Sunrise Wind is a 924 MW offshore wind farm under construction on the Atlantic Outer Continental Shelf, off Long Island. Developed by Ørsted, it is the first US offshore project built on HVDC transmission. The Orbit Desk reads its build-out from orbit — foundation by foundation, turbine by turbine.

Linear projection to completion

━ Foundations━ Turbines

At the observed turbine cadence (~0.89/week), erection of all 84 units completes ~2028-01 — in line with Ørsted's 2027 completion target. Foundations (~1.33/week) finish well ahead, ~2026-10. Linear projection of the observed seasonal rate; winter weather windows and commissioning may push full commercial operation into 2028.
